Tarot Cafe

was introduced to this new cafe in town called Tarot Cafe a few months back... and I like it alot...

not only it serves pretty reasonably priced drinks and food, anyone can book a tarot session to have their future read... not bad of a concept huh??

WIFI is free, and I have been hanging around this place when I need to get some work done over the weekend...

some light meal to fill up that tummy in order for the brain to function...

it's my 5th year in the company...

It started off at the Holiday Inn poolside.

The food was great, with me stuffing myself with quite a lot of BBQ lobsters again, after the fest at Hilton a week ago. My cholesterol level must be off the chart now...
-_____-'

It's a mix of band performances by colleagues as well as professional band hired for the after party at Tribes.

The partayy lasted throughout the night until around 3am, but I left at around 1.30am, and something happened after I left Holiday Inn. UNLUCKY....

I'll blog about what happened in the next post as I dun wanna mix happy stuff with depressing stuff.... -_____-''

house warming

was invited to my cousin's new house warming dinner last Sunday. went over with my parents. for Kuching standard, the house is located very far from downtown. I'm not sure of the location name, but the residential area is called Semamba Park. it took about 45 minutes to get there from my house, which is only 15 minutes from Kuching city centre, so if adding that up during a typical work day traffic jam... well, it's gonna be one hell of a bumper to bumper more-than-an-hour snail ride to get to work and to go home...

the house is a corner terrace, so it's quite big. RM300,000. plus extension of the kitchen area and some renovation work, an additional RM120,000. For me, IF I were to spend RM420,000 on a new house, I'd probably be able to get an intermediate terrace of similar size (without having the extension/renovation work) 20 minutes from the city center. I'd rather spend that range of money on a place closer to town than spending it like how my cousin & the husband did.

the food was served buffet style - got Pork leg, fried prawns, Kah-Chang-Mah, fried chicken, noodles, fried rice, fish fillet and mixed vege. there were more than enough food for everyone.

makan-ing @ Food Avenue (update)

went to Food Avenue to join Hedo and gang for supper after my badminton session last week. I had a light dinner before going for badminton, so I was very much starving when I reached there. ordered this:

Fish Fillet and Chicken Don. The price: RM11. Expensive huh?? well I totally agree with FH2o: Kuching Kayaking about the price of hawker food there. I'm not saying that the food sucks ok, in fact it was pretty good, but I would probably be paying less elsewhere for the same thing.

[UPDATE]:
went there for supper again after my badminton session yesterday... and ordered this:

Fried Pork and Chicken Don. RM8. I ordered the fried pork just to see how it tasted... and it's just normal... nothing much to shout about.

a pretty filling dinner & a new phone

Jo's phone went 'konged during Christmas Eve, and even though it went somewhat working the next day, the pissed lady was determined to get the LG Chocolate out of her hands. Then, half a day of phone searching, surveying and comparing ensued at Saberkas before deciding to buy that Nokia 7500 Prism. To her, it's a phone that is: 'If you like it, you'll like it, and vice versa. To me, it looked ridiculously weird at first, but after a while, it actually looked quite appealing.

Price of the phone: RM660.
Trade in price for the LG Chocolate: RM220
damage to her wallet: RM440
Pretty good bargain huh??

went to Chef At Home at Hui Sing area for dinner after a late evening swim, we order quite heavy meals - a sirloin steak for her, a lamb steak for me, a caesar salad and drinks.

food came shortly, and again my mistake of forgetting to take photos but started to dig into them hungrily. the portion was very generous, and together with plenty of tabasco sauce, it was sumptuous indeed. only after we were filled to the brim that I realize my forgetfulness, so here you go - the aftermath shot...

two more weddings attended before 2007 ended...

I suppose it's the Christmas season lovey dovey mood that apparently led to a lot of couples deciding to tie the nod before 2008. The final two weddings that I attended to were of Thongs' on December 22 and Mok Vui & Patricia's on Christmas eve.

The biggest Christmas Tree in Kuching at The Travillion. Lotsa Kuchingites went there just to take photos of it...

thongs and the hubby exchanging their marriage vows on stage @ The Hilton Ballroom... glamor banyak...

Mok Vui & Patricia's wedding was held in this new *forgot name* restaurant at the Petanak area. the food served was seriously generous and good. It was sort of like a secondary school class reunion as we all get to sit together and update each other on things. Can u imagine I need to update 3 of their HP numbers in my phone database, and vice versa?? How time flies and things change...

anyway, more to come on the Christmas eve party, or should I say hangout...

one of the best Kuch Chap in Kuching...

Jo suggested going for Kueh Chap after our swim on a Sunday a while a ago. went over to the Kenyalang old market, but it wasn't open for business... and then while deciding which area serves good Kueh Chap, the stall at Poh Kong Park, Greenroad popped up. Drove all the way over to Greenroad we did, and luckily this time it's open...

while waiting for the food to come, suddenly I realized that I have not been there for Kueh Chap for more than a year... how time flies...

very old school-style Kueh Chap stall... but I kid you not people... the taukeh sells one of the best-est Kueh Chap in town, whereby the soup is just so rich with flavour and has enough sweetness to it. you then pick whatever pig parts that you want - be it tougue, stomach, lean meat, three-layered meat, chicken feet, ear and etc.... and yeap, it's so good that I forgot to take a few pictures of it before plunging the spoon and chopsticks into the food.

Not cheap though... a decent portion (special) of Kueh Chap here is RM4.50, or you could just up the portion to RM5.00's worth, which by Kuching's Kueh Chap average of RM3.50 is abit to the high side, but seriously it's worth ever single cent...

company annual dinner

It's the company's 5th annual dinner, held at the Holiday Inn Ballroom last week, which also means that I've been with the company for 4 years. Quite a long time already considering the fact that I lasted only 1 year in my previous job. It was a great night, as there were good food, plentiful of fun games as well as a hell of a party at Tribes after the dinner.

a gift from all the staffs to the management (our bosses)

a picture of all of us colleagues (photoshopped of course) with the company logo. dunno who suggested this, but it was truly something special and meaningful.

after all the good food, lucky draws and fun events, which I was too lazy to snap pictures of, we proceeded to Tribes for the after dinner party. I didn't stay too long though, but I was sure that everyone had a blast. the whole thing was definitely better than those of previous years.

as for me, I was somewhat lucky being the winner of a 1GD pen-drive during the lucky draw... just what I needed actually as my current pen-drive is only running at a lame 128MB. Our table was the luckiest of all as out of 9 people, 5 of us found ourselves receiving early Christmas gifts on the stage during the lucky draw. The prizes were 1 year newspaper subscription, 2 pen-drives (1GB), 1 portable hardisk (80GB) and a Sony MP3 player.
