dinner at the SteakHouse, Kuching

this is *dunno how many posts about* dining at the Hilton Steakhouse...
but what to do?? I dig the stuff there... =.='''

anyway, Diana was back in town, and since having the 50%-off-the-bill card beats any other overpriced dining places, off we went...

will let the pictures do the talking... heh...
Bold
a compulsory shot of the leng-lui before she starts oiling up the lips...

forgot what's this called liaw...

bread, plus butter and other dunno what thingy... =.=''''
sorry for being ignorant...

yea, dunno-what-soup-of-the-day...

some salmon appetizer thingy...

ahh... this one I know... the usual rib-eye steak, medium... ^__^

oh yea, that was the first time I used my new camera to snap photos at the restaurant... sorry if some of them looked abit blurry at the edge... didn't use flash indoor... and shaky hands I have...
=.='''

salmon overdose...

Like the previous salmon-themed dinner, this time there were two types of salmon served...

all the way from NZ...

Norwegian salmon sashimis...

grilled salmon parts...

Salmon sushis...

deep fried salmon skin sushi...

the 15 of us each ate an average of 300+ grams that night... it was teh good... & satisfying...

The Eatery @ Four Points Sheraton

As-X was back here in Kuching over the last weekend, but despite telling Daniel about it earlier on... the bugger forgot and booked a trip to Miri with his wife for some Jazz Festival... wtf... and will only be back on Sunday night... so As-X and I decided not to wait until then, and went for the BBQ Seafood Buffet on Saturday...

the variety of food on display for the daily buffet is easily the biggest amongst all the top hotel buffets in Kuching, but the quality is still somewhat to be improved. There is an entry by As-X on the details (negative points) of the buffet... so I'm not gonna blog too much on it here... just some pictures and some nice stuff rather...

we were seated beside the swimming pool... and surprisingly, even though it was full house that night, we were the only two person having our dinner outside...

satay, seafood omelette, roasted chicken, steam chicken, roasted duck... all very nice...

went for almost the same serving for the second round, but took some prawn tempuras...

the chicken rice with steamed chicken, roasted chicken and duck is teh good... I had two servings...

two idiots doing the same camwhore post... wtf...
-_____-'

the bill came to RM140.75 for two... not too bad lah...

my opinion: if they up the quality of the fresh oysters, salmon/tuna sashimis and hire enough waiters/waitresses to attend to diners' needs, then I'm sure The Eatery buffet would be pretty hard to beat for the mass array of cuisines served and price paid per person...

for all of you Jap food lovers to drool on... hehehe...

The makan-makan session was for the farewell of a colleague as well as for another colleague's birthday. The almost 4kg salmon was flown in directly from Aussie (I think) or NZ... and 15 of us went to Tomoe Japanese Restaurant for the dinner... btw, the salmon was freshly caught and then flown over, so it's freshness to the max guaranteed... cooked or prepared in different Japanese ways... :)

ordered this Japanese pizza thingy as the starter, but not that recommended...

then came the salmon sashimi... so fresh it's orgasmic...

salmon sushi...

fried salmon...

grilled salmon...

fried squid...

sushi with the salmon skin wrapped in it...

fried salmon skin sushi...

note: the serving was 4 - 5 plates for each picture shown... and we paid just RM30/person... well worth the money ehh...??

you guys hungry yet??

assorted snapshots III

just got back from Sabah... dead tired now... and while I compile the tonnes of photos taken, below are some assorted snapshots prior to the Sabah trip...

view from Mount Singai...

sunlight through the canopy...

went for lunch at this Red Dragon Cafe after the Mount Singai climb...

ordered this frog soup (田雞湯), which was surprisingly good... especially the thick soup...

squirrel meat cooked with soy sauce & dried chili... looked impressive but it was a total let down... we weren't even charged for this dish as it was really lousy...

this huge bowl of laksa cost RM6, but I tell ya, it's worth every penny paid...

salmon sushi, salmon sashimi and caviar... I like!!

assorted seafood @ the Hilton Mediterranean Buffet...

and I bought this Camel Active belt before going to Sabah as my old one is almost spoilt...

Sashimi Hana...

tried out this 3-piece Sashimi Hana set at Rakutei last night, and I'd say it's pretty worthy as each piece came wrapped with two huge slices of salmon sashimis...

the combination of sushi with salmon, tobiko and mayonnaise tasted brilliant...

can't seem to have enough...

two days after the dinner with Jo at The Steak House, went there again with Daniel after sending the twosuperheroes to the airport for their flight back to KL after their stay here in Kuching. will blog about it in another entry...

ordered this prawn appetizer thingy... fresh and sumptuous with enough sour taste in it to whip out the appetite...

Daniel's order of the grilled Salmon. after having the soup that he ordered plus this huge chunk of Salmon, the big guy actually claimed that he's full...

I ordered the 250 gram Rib-Eye steak, medium done. Generous piece of meat, with plenty of meat juice/blood retained... heavenly was the word...

bill came to slightly over RM90 including drinks... and we came out satisfied customers...

it's the freshness of the food that counts...

went over to Rakutei Japanese Restaurant for an unplanned dinner. turned out to be a pretty expensive one... ''-___-
but seriously it's worth it though as the food served was as fresh as it could get...

Rakutei is located at Crown Square Kuching

We ordered quite a lot of stuff, and actually over-ordered as in the end I was the poor thing doing the clean ups while she sat there sipping her beer... ''-____-

let's see... ordered Salmon & Tuna, California rolls, softshell crab, garlic rice, and the one shown in the picture below: I didn't manage to take photos of the other food stuff as I was already busy feeding myself...

those raw prawns were super fresh!!

the bill came up to be slightly over RM160, but like I said, it's the freshness that counts... and the quality of the food served justifies the amount paid.
