buffet overdose...

The past 10 days had been filled with quite some happenings, and out of the 10 days, I went for 4 different buffet dinners... and frankly I'm tired of buffets, despite them being prepared by 5-star hotels...

Hilton's Japanese Buffet...

the salad bar... mix the stuff of your choice...

chocolate fountain... for those with sweet tooth...

the friendly chef who actually pose for the photo... should try his grilled lobsters... dem good... :)

mussels, typical sashimis, teriyaki chicken, smoked salmon... they were all good...

chawanmushi, fried Japanese chicken, grilled fish, unagi, and octopus cocktails...

this shot was taken at the Majestic Cafe, Crown Plaza when celebrating Hedo's birthday...
the queue at the sushi bar was agonizingly long for the entire buffet period... I bet the chef went home with cramped fingers...

I had enough of sashimis at Hilton already, so I didn't bother to wait it out at the queue, which was somewhat pathetic seeing so many kiasu ppl queuing up (at least 20 minutes before it's your turn) just for some sashimis, or sushis, or those California rolls... imagine a high-class school canteen serving Jap food...

our dining experience was somewhat a disappointment too as the table of 5 that I reserved more than a week ago was taken by some other diners, and the managers on duty directed us to a table that only seats 4 people, ask us to wait till our tables were cleared, sommore at the non-smoking area despite me telling the bugger that I have booked a table at the smoking area... wtf?!!? helo~~ you call yourself a 5-star hotel with this kindda fucked-up service kahh??

I was pissed, and after more than half an hour waiting for the table that I reserved, I just lighted up there and then, followed by Hedo & Hing... 15 minutes later, they promptly set-up an extra table of 4 to accommodate the 5 of us at the smoking area... haihh...

I think the management purposely overbook the place and still they accept walk-in diners , thus causing many diners who have made reservations to wait or seated at non-smoking area instead of their preferred smoking area (or vice versa).

this picture of assorted Sashimi was the one served at Hilton's Northern Indian Buffet on Wednesday night when I went there for dinner with Jo... as good if not better than the ones served at the Jap Buffet of Crown Plaza on Saturday...

Hilton's Mediterranean Buffet on Monday night (my Dad's birthday)... also got serve Japanese food wad... and the variety & quality of the dishes served at Hilton out-shown those of Crown Plaza's...

the different types of cheese cakes I took last night...

one of the many comical shots of Niny on Saturday night...
verdict: she enjoys being tortured/bullied.... -_____-''

happening weekend...

Han and Kari were back over the last weekend, and the rest of us here in Kuching were out 2 nights back-to-back for a get-together just to catch up on things...

went over to Secret Recipe for my meal as I had skipped dinner, and to my disappointment, the Lamb Shank wasn't as good as it looked... :(

Han ordered the kids meal burgers just for fun... -____-''

Kari came over a while later, brought me a Mild Seven One and a Davidoff Lights from his trip to Shanghai... thanks dude...

then on the Saturday night, went to Hilton for dinner as well as to Senso for a drink later...
blardy hell Manchester United lost to Chelsea 1-2, and I ended up footing the bill for the Japanese Buffet dinner we had at the Waterfront Cafe while Daniel (Man-U fans who also lost the bet) paid for Kari's share of the bill at Senso... Kari was the lucky one who only spent like RM50 for the entire night... knn...

(*will blog about the Hilton Japanese Buffet dinner, as well as the Hilton Northern-Indian Buffet dinner on the Wednesday night in a separate post...*)

ordered a bottle of Jim Bean for the night, which we later ended up at Victoria Arms for another 2 rounds of Heineken... Kari was wasted by the time I drove him home at around 2.30am... and the bugger kept on singing in my car... -______-"

Under the Canopy of Love 《天幕下的戀人》

I mentioned that I'm gonna watch
Under the Canopy of Love 天幕下的戀人 after finishing its spin-off story - The Seventh Day 《最美麗的第七天》 previously right??

well, I got home and went straight to look for the torrent file, downloaded the entire 20 episodes, and managed to finish watching it last Friday.

Both series are seriously good... with lotsa whacky quotes and scenes as well as romantic moments. However, I like
The Seventh Day 《最美麗的第七天》 more because Natalie Tong (唐詩詠) is one of the main actresses rather than having her play second fiddle in Under the Canopy of Love 天幕下的戀人.

oh by the way... she is teh hot...

some fake fire...

was somewhat settling for work at my place when the fire alarm of the Tun Jugah building went off last Tuesday, and while everyone was ignoring it thinking that the management might be testing the fire alarm, we were told to get out of the building via the emergency exit...

okay... fire drill... boring~...
I took my time getting the cellphone and wallet, then followed the rest at the emergency exit, walked down seven floors to the ground... -____-''

still got time to take a picture with my N95 when I was on the 2nd floor...

apparently the management set up some fake smoke on the 8th floor to set-off the fire alarm...

everyone from the building was to gather in front of McDonald's in case such situation really happens...
on that day though, lotsa ppl actually bought McD's ice-cream while waiting for the firemen and policemen to clear the building...

the big red machine in action...

The Seventh Day 《最美麗的第七天》

I just finished watching this new TVB drama - The Seventh Day 《最美麗的第七天》, after having spent the entire night watching the last 10 episodes till around 7.30am... damn it has one hell of a touching storyline... but I feel like crap as of now... yawn~~~ NEED.SLEEP.REAL.SOON...
-______-"

this drama was just shown on Astro On Demand...
but I manage to get a friend to burn me a copy after he downloaded it... heh...

Apparently, this drama is a follow-up/spin-off from the previous one (different storyline though) screened about a year ago - Under the Canopy of Love 天幕下的戀人, also with the same cast...

I'm so gonna download this one, or buy it from those China DVD sellers and watch it... (yea I know, this one has been shown before, but I don't usually watch those Astro programs except for AXN and the Sports Channels at home...)

canceled a few credit cards...

in the past few days, I've canceled 3 of my credit cards (Standard Chartered & RHB) as I have not been using them all these while, and I see no point in keeping them. rather than risk forgetting to cancel them before the banks charge me with those annual fees, I canceled them first instead.

punched a few holes through the magnetic strips and smart chips on the cards, and send them back to the bank.

Also, it is a known fact that having too many credit cards, be it active or not reduces a person's financial credibility to the banks when it comes to applying loans, typically car loans and house loans. Therefore, canceling a few, and keeping just one or two which one uses all the time would be more than sufficient. I'm going to cancel another few more soon - namely my credit cards from Citibank, Alliance Bank, HSBC and two (Mastercard and Amex) from Maybank and just keep my CIMB and Maybank Visa.

a bit of makeover for the car...

the Sun-Guard tint that I bought about 3+ years ago has faded badly, so I send the car over to my usual car tinting/accessory shop to get a new layer of tint, and this time, Ice-Cool was the pick, at 50% tint on all sides...

the guys working on the windows...

I also bought a center speaker (max output @ 60W), that comes with its own little power output amp that is placed in the console box... pretty cool gadget lor... and now I get more vocal and bass from the front... :)

I did mention before that I damaged the front skirt of the car last November right?? well, the damage to it became worse after that as there were a few times when I scrapped it while parking the car to near the parking curb...

so I decided to get it changed. how's the new front-look??

Ais-Cool Tint - RM400
Center Speaker - RM220
Front Skirt - RM220

Total Damage - RM840

I damn broke liaw.... >___<

Ciggie Review - ESSE Lights Super Slim

I opened up the last of the three cigarette packs bought back from Vietnam last time by dinosaur a couple of days ago. Apparently, this ESSE Lights Super Slim is made from Korea... hmm.......

ESSE Lights Super Slim is typical ciggies for the ladies, so for a guy to light it up is like a guy driving a feminine car such as a Mini Cooper or a Smort ForTwo, you get the idea laaa...

However, I ain't gonna let it go to waste as it went all the way from Korea to Vietnam and then to Malaysia... so I lit it up literally. Taste was pretty decent, lighter than those of Dunhill Lights, but still got kick compared to the more tasteless Sobranie Slims Mints that Hedo usually burns... ;)

assorted snapshots...

I have been playing badminton regularly since early this year, about 3 times a week, and sweating it out at the badminton court is one of the best de-stress methods ever...

one of my lunch a few weeks back at Kapit Cafe... the usual Kah-Chang-Mah with rice + some new energy Sprite drink...

the beef pie (RM9) served at Starbucks was seriously good...

on the other hand, this chocolate moose cake thingy was disastrous... wasted my 9 bucks... crap!!!

the workshop watch-dog, with a Honda engine...
was at Ah-Ben's workshop two weeks ago to get him test out a car that I was tempted to buy, but in the end forgo the idea due to the car having gearbox response problem and some weird engine noise...

The Original Carwash...

went to this somewhat new high-class car wash outlet - The Original Carwash at Rubber Road about a month ago... yea, I know... this is a way overdue post, together with many more to come... :)

the place is huge... and very nicely done up to say the least...

where else could you find another car wash outlet with this cool set-up and renovation work in Kuching?

sommore WIFI is provided free, together with a free drink of your choice...

can choose to sit outside or inside, which is air-conditioned, and a range of food & beverages is served...

see your car being washed ala-assembly-line style through the glass panel...

pretty cool place to hand around lor... abeit the higher price... RM15 for a normal car wash & vacuum + a free drink...

even the toilet design puts typical three-star hotel's toilets to shame... -_____-''

Ciggie Review - Jet Cigarettes

I opened up the second of the three cigarettes bought back for me from Vietnam yesterday night when I went out for a drive as it was damn boring at home...

this Jet brand is typical of American cigarettes, similar to those of Winston, which is too strong for my liking. After the first stick, I was already abit pening... -____-

I only took 2 sticks last night and was already thinking: "How am I gonna finish this pack ahh??"

I brought it to the office and left it on the table... maybe I'll treat some other colleagues who smokes Winston...

have been busy lately...

I have been pretty busy lately, typically with work. Just finished an assignment, and another report is due in two weeks+ time... crap!!!

The above is just a snapshot of past industry reports done by yours sincerely.

Have been doing this for the past 4 years, and this is the 5th year I'm with the company. Stress level is actually minimal, and only during deadlines that I am busier with getting the respective reports out.

Chicago 7

I wrote in a previous post about trying out the broasted chicken from Chicago 7, so this time, I'm posting about the restaurant itself...

it was raining when I reached the place, but with plenty of car park around, it's relatively convenient...

the restaurant is simple and clean... pretty much the standard of fast food chains...
there are microphones on each ordering counters, so after you have placed your orders, the one serving you will let the kitchen know the orders over the microphone...

plenty of seats available, and there is even a desktop for customers to use...

also, there are a few tables set up outside specially for those who smokes...

the place opens up until 12am daily, so those who hang out late have another choice for late suppers apart from going to the 24 hour McDonald's downtown. The KFC opposite opens until 11pm only...

raining in Kuching for the past few days....

it has been raining for the past few nights, and it's somewhat frustrating as we had less choices to choose from when going out yumcha, or worse still, chose to stay home instead...

however, it was Liverpool vs Bolton on Sunday night, so despite the rain, me, hedo and her ah-bee went over to Victoria Arms@Merdeka Palace to watch the game as our usual 3rd mile open air kopitiam was infested by people listening to them politicians giving out their speech for the coming weekend election...

Liverpool went on to win the match 3 - 1, with a comical opening goal from captain Steven Gerald. It would have been a great place to watch football albeit for the loud live band playing at the background...

new year dinner @ KWS Association

went to the KWS (Kwong Wai Siew) Association for the annual Chinese New Year dinner/gathering thingy yesterday night. it was full of people, and us who are under the KWS Youth were busily taking pictures and entertaining guests.

there were lion dance at the front entrance to welcome all the guests

getting everyone seated before the KWS Chairman went up for his speech on the stage...

guests queuing up to get the food...

after all the food, there were games as well as Ang-Pow giving ceremony, and apparently everyone who attended the dinner went home with at least an Ang-Pow.
