my monitor died...

I went home a happy man after watching the Malaysian hot-shot mens double Koo Kien Kiat & Tan Boon Heong kicked the Danes' asses all over the Swiss Open Final on Sunday night.

Got home, switched on my monitor, and saw a few sparks coming from underneath it... shiet!! the screen never lit up, and after a few tries, with sparks coming on & off... sighh~~... the monitor confirm KONG-ed!!

bye bye monitor...

This monitor was actually bought in 1999, so after 8 good long years, it's actually about time for it to go to monitor heaven. The problem is that I can't use my PC period until I get myself a new monitor, and this time, it'll most probably be something like a 19" or 21" LCD... hehehe...

So for the mean time, I'm using my mum's laptop to hook up to the net and work (if I have to).

yea I know, my table is very the messed-up...

a newly renovated Crown Square

I was invited to attend the Sarawak Youth Association 13th Annual Dinner a couple of weeks ago. The dinner was held at Crown Square Kuching.

I have not been there for quite a long long time, and to my surprise, Crown Square actually underwent a major renovation and make-over. The shopping floor space has been expanded to almost twice the previous size, and it holds alot more shops.

This picture was taken from the top floor, where the dinner was held =)

Songs that I have been listening to recently...

my students recently asked me to help them download songs... so after bluetooth-ing those songs to them (lucky bunch... form 2 already got HPs), I listened to them, and actually liked a few... eventually these songs are now playing in my car as well... pretty soothing compared to the likes of Nelly's - Shake Ya Tailfeather.

1. 今天你要嫁给我 (陶喆&蔡依林)

2. 好想对你说 (何润东&张娜拉)

3. 是你决定我的伤心 (张玉华&李圣杰)

4. 梁山伯与茱丽叶 (曹格&卓文萱)

Ciggie Review - Huang Shan (黄山)

I opened the last of the three China ciggie today. The name is Huang Shan (黄山). Of all 3 packets, this one has the best packaging as well as design, that's why I leave it to the last. Taste wise, it tastes a hell lot better than the previous two, and it's very much similar to Dunhill Lights, but with a stronger taste.

solidly packed. good stuff =)

Ciggie Review - A Pen (一枝笔 )

yea you've read it correctly - it's not a typo mistake... there IS this brand called A Pen (一枝笔) from China. this is the second China pack that I opened, and it was during my CNY gambling marathon at my friend's house. started from 1030pm till 5.30am the next morning... and went for breakfast before going home to sleep...

and in that 7 hours, the entire pack of 20 sticks was finished... of course with the others taking one or two to try out. overall comment from the gang - not too bad... just that it still has the funny Chinese taste I mentioned in the previous China ciggie review.

classmates' wedding

I was invited to attend my secondary school classmates' dinner last night. we were all classmates since Form 4, and they started dating during university time.

it was a great night, as a lot of classmates are present, and it's both a wedding dinner as well as somewhat a high school gathering. we classmates occupied about 3 tables, and it was like back to old times... just that we are now all working, and some are attached, and gonna tie the knots soon... there goes another few more Ang Pows...

I only remembered to take this photo after the dinner ceremony when we were waiting to take group photos --> thanks to all the good food and laughters... However, will upload more pictures of the wedding when I get my hands on photos taken by the rest. :)

Lastly, Congratulations to Ngee Shin and Eileen! May the two of you enjoy each others' company, and be happy all the time.

CNY trip back to grandma's place

like every second day of CNY, the whole family would go back to Lundu to visit my grandma. it's about 1.5 hour's drive from Kuching. reached Lundu at around 10.30am in the morning, and from that time until we left at around 3pm, all we did was eat, chat and drink...

paid respect to our great grandparents and my grandpa...

the theme for that day was chicken... 5 plates of different chicken, 1 duck, 1 beef and 1 lamb. later lunch time, three plates of prawn were served, together with soup and satay... (too much to eat until I forgot to take pictures.... heh)

PayPerPost's new reward program

After several attempts, my blog was finally approved by PayPerPost recently, so this would be my very first sponsored entry.

PayPerPost has just announced its new Review My Post program. Apart from getting paid for writing sponsored posts, bloggers could also earn extra bucks by getting their readers to sign-up for PayPerPost and then review the posts blogged. Not only we bloggers could get more income, this program would help increase blog traffic as well.

Bloggers can now simply add this badge -

at the end of any of their posts and easily earn money and build traffic with no additional effort.

Everyone could use that extra bucks to buy that special something, or extra item after deducting a large portion of our pay for the bills, expenses and other commitments. Like me, I wouldn't mind receiving a couple of hundreds extra just to upgrade my car, or get that new gadget that I've always wanted. Thus, considering the fact that I spend quite a lot of time in the office using the Internet and that I blog frequently, why not make some money from the effort put in, and with PayPerPost providing monetary reward on sponsored posts as well as paying bloggers for referrals and this Review My Post program, I'll be seeing myself earning some money doing the things that I love to do - BLOG.

So people... why wait?? Sign-up PayPerPost now, and start earning some money while blogging!

Ciggie Review - Lesser Panda (小熊猫)

another close friend of mine also went to Beijing during the CNY holidays. as usual, she got me not one, but three different packs of China made ciggie. many many thanks =).

finished the first one 2 days ago. it's called 小熊猫 (Lesser Panda in English). the Tar, Nicotine and CO13 content is double that of West Light. the smell and taste is abit weird... maybe it's catered more for the chinese's taste buds, but overall it's pretty okay.

Ciggie review - West Lights

Hedo went to Beijing for the CNY holiday, and brought back a carton of West Lights for me =).

nice packaging sommore...

West is a product from Germany, and for those F1 fans out there, you should remember that West was the official sponsor for McLaren Mercedes until 2005. I've tried West (the normal ones) before, so West Lights is pretty much like our Dunhill Lights, albeit dryer to the throat... not bad actually...

got my car tyres changed...

after 2 years+ of abuse, my car tyres are fast becoming those F1 slick rubbers and seriously losing grip during rainy days, so before CNY, got them changed to Michelin MFX sport rubbers at a freakin' good bargain...

Michelin MXF Sport tyre... those treads are so sexy...

waiting for them to put back the rim+tyre

now it's time for the rear ones...

done and ready to go... yeah babeh!!

RIP, grandma...

my grandma passed away in her sleep peacefully last Thursday morning... and after dad called me and inform me about it, I took half day off work and went over my uncle's place to help out on things...

She passed away at the age of 97, and after adding years to her age (Chinese calculation thingy), it was a whooping 103 years old!! The funeral ceremony was held on Saturday, and all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren add up to more than 100 people... it was a grand send off for her...

the cover for her coffin. this masterpiece (including the coffin of course) has a current market value of more than RM20,000... no kidding...

taking a last look at grandma...

the memorial record book... recording people who came over to pay their last respect to grandma

the ceremony thingy before having the coffin transported to the cemetery

the youngest in the family... cute huh... =)
